Zachary Reid, author of "Cuba, More or Less," will discuss highlights of the travel, faith and life in the waning years of Castro

Zachary Reid, author of “Cuba, More or Less,” which features the travel, faith and life in the waning years of the Castro regime, will discuss highlights of his exciting book on Thursday,
July 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Wainwright House, 260 Stuyvesant Ave., Rye.

Reid’s book presents a vivid portrait of America’s alluring neighbor and demonstrates the profound impact of isolation on the Cuban people and the comfort they sought in the church, at great risk. He will discuss his meeting with Episcopal Bishop Griselda and how the church survived all those years when Castro had outlawed religion.

A longtime newspaper editor, writer and photographer, Zachary Reid has written about and photographed travel and international outreach projects in places around the world, including Turkey, Greece, Serbia, Haiti and Peru and has traveled and written about life along the route that the Mississippi River takes from the Minnesota headwaters to where it disappears in the Gulf of Mexico.
