Here I Am; Send Me! Sunday, May 31, 10:30am

Sunday morning worship service, First Baptist Church of White Plains

To be a child, is to be an heir. But not just an heir of personal property, money or genetics, but an heir of parental values, actions passed down, work ethics, hopes and dreams shared across the generations.

Today’s sermon looks at Isaiah’s call to be a prophet from the “Great I Am” as well as Paul’s building up the Roman church by having them claim their inheritance as God’s children. That inheritance involves suffering with Christ and ultimately sharing in his glorified resurrection.

Prophets, disciples and followers of Christ are heirs to a legacy well beyond their making or imagining. We, as the church, have a mandate to live out this inheritance of selfless love, mercy, compassion, and forgiveness. Living out this legacy is what Paul meant when he said that “we can also be glorified with him.”
