Port Chester Fire Displaces 4 Families Wednesday

The Red Cross Metro New York North Chapter assisted in helping with relocation.

A two-alarm fire Wednesday afternoon in Port Chester displaced four families.

The blaze broke out around 1:30 p.m. at 40 Cottage St.

The Red Cross was requested by the Port Chester Fire Department to come to the scene to assist in relocating nine adults, three pre-teen children and two dogs.

Red Cross volunteer Carolyn Sherwin said the organization was providing translation assistance, along with food and coffee.

Everyone was relocated to the Greenwich, CT, headquarters, where they were receiving emergency relocation, financial assistance and referrals.
