Port Chester Husband, Father Facing Deportation

He has lived in New York for 30 years; he was arrested at the age of 14 in Texas.

PORT CHESTER, NY — A Port Chester husband and father of three faces deportation and the community is rallying to help him. Aroldo Soto Contreras is being held in New Jersey after he was arrested when he showed up to check in with ICE agents.

Contreras had been arrested in Texas at the age of 14 and didn’t show up for court appearances, FIOS1 News said.

He is the sole breadwinner for his family.

U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer’s office has contacted Contreras’ family, and the Hudson Valley Community Coalition has called on the senator to help delay the man’s deportation, the Journal News said.

An online petition has been started to raise public support on behalf of Contreras.
