Port Chester Man Seriously Injured In Wrong-Way I-95 Crash With Semi
The Friday crash snarled traffic for hours and prompted Connecticut transportation officials to close portions of the interstate.
PORT CHESTER, NY — A 27-year-old Port Chester man was seriously injured Friday when the car he was driving crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 near Stamford, according to Connecticut State Police.
The crash, which happened just after 2:30 a.m. on the southbound I-95, between exits 7 and 6, snarled traffic for hours and prompted Connecticut transportation officials to close portions of the interstate.

According to police, Edgar P. Alvarracinvizhco of Port Chester, was driving a 2016 Ford Edge the wrong way on the southbound I-95 when he hit the tractor-trailer. He was not using a seatbelt at the time of the crash, according to police. Alvarracinvizhco was taken to Stamford Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said.
The tractor-trailer's driver and passenger were not injured.

The collision remains under investigation by Troop G and the Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash should contact Connecticut State Trooper Nicolas Falstoe at 203-696-2500 or email this address. Police are also asking for assistance from anyone who may have been driving through the area at the time and may have dashboard camera footage.
