Port Chester Middle School Reopens Monday

Students at the middle school will also be attending classes Tuesday. All other schools will be closed to students.

PORT CHESTER, NY — After more than a week, Port Chester Middle School is open and students are attending classes. According to a district spokeswoman, the school was cleared to hold classes Monday. Students will be attending classes Tuesday as well, though the rest of the schools in the district will be closed for a professional development day.

The middle school will also be a polling site for the General Election Tuesday.

The school and the district board offices had closed since Oct. 26 when a mounting for a decorative concrete panel fell.

Officials said nearly 90 similar panels had to be shored up and safety bridges were constructed where panels were located over exterior entry doors.

Students will be required to make up the lost days, a spokeswoman said.
