Port Chester PD Sued for Allegedly Withholding Medication from Suspect

Harrison resident Jeffrey Buschel claims police officers withheld his anti-seizure medicine resulting in two episodes.

Harrison resident Jeffrey Buschel reportedly is suing Port Chester and its police force over an incident in 2012 when officers allegedly withheld his anti-seizure medication from him while he was in custody for drunken driving.

The Journal News writes that the incident occurred in October 2012, and it allegedly led to Buschel suffering two seizures.

According to the lawsuit and his attorney John Nonnenmacher, Buschel suffered a seizure in his cell, was taken to the hospital then returned to his cell where he suffered a second seizure.

Buschel claims he tried to communicate that he needed the medication, and his girlfriend brought it to police headquarters but officers allegedly did not give it to him.

Port Chester and other communities have specific procedures surrounding medications and suspects in drunken driving cases, according to village ordinances.
