Port Chester Receive Award for Budget Presentation

This is the third year in a row the village has received the honor.

The Village of Port Chester received an award for its 2015-16 budget.

Village Manager Christopher Steers said seven municipalities in the state received the Distinguished Presentation Award, of which Port Chester was the only village.

He said it was third year in a row receiving the honor.

The award, according to the Government Finance Officers Association, reflects a commitment by the governing body and staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting.

The 2015-16 fiscal year budget was assessed a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.

Steers said, in a prepared statement, that the board has worked diligently over the last three years to be more proactive in areas of planning and implementing fiscal, organizational and village-wide changes that are valuable to the public.

“We continue to move forward on building capacity, improving service delivery and shoring up our local infrastructure,” he said.
