Port Chester Schools: United Hospital Development Could Strain Classrooms

If the project comes to fruition as proposed, there would be over 700 new housing units.

Port Chester school officials have some concerns about how the proposed development of the former United Hospital will impact their classrooms.

Board of Education President Robert Johnson said there are fears that the district will run out of space soon, because it is at capacity in most, if not all, buildings, according to an article at lohud.com.

Starwood Capital Group bought the site in 2006 and would like to build a 135-room hotel, along with medical office space, retail and 730 residential units, some of which would be age-restricted.
