Port Chester Woman Dies After Getting Caught in Rip Current Off New Jersey Beach
She was pulled from the water by her boyfriend but later died, authorities said.
A Westchester County woman who was caught in a rip current on an unguarded beach in Long Beach Township, New Jersey, died despite numerous efforts to save her, a spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said.
Kristi Pisano, 24, of Port Chester and her boyfriend were staying at the Mariner's Inn when they decided to take a swim on an unguarded beach in the Spray Beach section of Long Beach Township on Saturday morning, said spokesman Al Della Fave.

They were planning to attend the man's sister's wedding that afternoon, he said.
A wave knocked them over. They were pulled out into the rip current. Her boyfriend was able to bring her back to shore, authorities said.

A number of beach goers attempted CPR and Pisano was rushed to Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin. She was later airlifted to Presbyterian Hospital, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she died on Sunday morning, Della Fave said.
"People really need to be aware of how dangerous the ocean can be," he said.
