Rye Brook's Firehouse Has Overnight Paid Firefighter Coverage for Now
Rye Brook got a temporary restraining order against Port Chester's decision.

There was a Port Chester firefighter on duty Friday night at the Rye Brook firehouse.
FIOS1News.com said the overnight paid firefighter will be on the job at least until next Friday.
The Port Chester village trustees voted to eliminate all paid, or career, firefighters in a budgetary move.

Port Chester Mayor Dennis Pilla in a prepared statement sent to Patch characterized Rye Brook’s lawsuit which prompted a state Supreme Court ruling as an adversarial approach that will create unnecessary legal expenses for both communities.
He said he was disappointed Rye Brook choose to go the legal route.

Pilla said the Port Chester Fire Department will continue to provide fire protection services to Rye Brook and will respond to all fire alarms and service calls.
“The Village of Port Chester feels strongly that is is our right, under the terms of the fire services agreement and under the law, to make staffing changes and to restructure our fire department,” he said.
