Science students grades K-12 invited to compete in regional fair

TRI COUNTY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FAIR registration has begun

The Tri County Science & Technology Fair, a regional Fair serving Westchester, Putnam and Rockland counties has begun registration. The Fair is open to all public, private and home schooled students and is the only regional Fair to include the lower grades. This year’s Fair is April 30th. To learn more about the Fair visit www.DiscoveryCtr.org

To enter students in the Tri County Fair, grades K-8 must win at their local school fair. High School students may enter by recommendation of a principal, science chair or science teacher. Home schooled students grades K-12 may be entered by parent with proof of homeschooling. If your school does not have a Fair, the Putnam Children’s Discovery Center will help your school get a fair up and running. A local Fair can be facilitated by interested parents (with the school’s permission), a PTA/PTO or by the school itself to qualify as a local Fair.

The divisions of competition are K-4, 5-8, 9-12 and the categories of competition are Biology, Chemistry, Environment, Earth/Space, Engineering/Technology, Health/Medicine, Mathematics/Computers, Physics and Psychology. Students in grades 6-12 can enjoy further competition after winning at Tri County. Broadcom Masters is available for students in grades 6-8 for the top 10% of the students competing within those grades. The top 3 students in grades 9-12 continue to NYS Science Congress through the Westchester Section of Science Teachers Association of NYS.
