Trooper Struck In Overnight Hit-And-Run On I-95 In Port Chester

New York State Police said the injured trooper was taken to the hospital after being hit while walking back to his marked police car.

PORT CHESTER, NY — New York State Police are searching for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision that injured a trooper on the New England Thruway on Thursday night near the Connecticut border and they are asking for your help.

Shortly before 9 p.m., a marked New York State Police car was parked on the shoulder of I-95, southbound, near mile marker 14.9 when an as yet unidentified vehicle traveling southbound, struck a New York State Trooper who was walking back to the patrol car after removing debris from the highway.

The trooper, who has not been named, was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment, according to officials. His condition has not been released.

The vehicle failed to stop and continued south on I-95 in the direction of New York City.

The right and center lanes, between Exit 21 and the Connecticut state line, remained blocked for several hours overnight while crash investigators combed the scene of the collision.
