Vote First, Then Come to The Town of Rye Offices For a "Tools for Change" Presentation

"Tools for Change," the social research program conducted by Duke University Professor Bill Tobin, with students from the public high schools located in the Town of Rye, will make their session-ending presentation on the issue of poverty tonight at 7pm in the courtroom for the Town of Rye at 10 Pearl Street.

This will be the fourth year that participating students will be presenting to the Town Council.  Each year the students research a different topic, conduct surveys and try to come up with workable solutions.  The beauty of the program is that it brings students of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds together - something that may not have happened otherwise.

The program which usually follow the school calendar was abbreviated this year as organizers tried to find funding.  As a result, the program only began in February, so there was a lot to do in a short time.  Funding continues to be a challenge, but the program is building a small cadre of fans who will hopefully continue to contribute and expand the pool of contributors.
