When Do Schools Close, Reopen for Holidays 2016 in Port Chester, Blind Brook

It's a short vacation this year in Port Chester and Blind Brook based on when Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year's Day fall.

PORT CHESTER, NY — It's just the way the calendar falls in 2016. Christmas Eve is on a Saturday; Hanukkah is on a Sunday; New Year's Day is on a Sunday.

And that's why Port Chester-Rye and Blind Brook school districts' holiday vacations are only six school days long. The last day of school is Dec. 23. Then Jan. 2 is the national holiday, and there you are, the end! School resumes Jan. 3, 2017.
