2 Suffolk Cops Hurt After Crash With Stolen Car Driven by Teen: Police

The 18-year-old is charged with criminal possession of stolen property, police say.

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY - Two Suffolk County Police officers suffered minor injuries after their car collided with a stolen vehicle driven by a teenager in Port Jefferson Station Tuesday afternoon, police said.

According to police, First Squad detectives were conducting a stolen vehicle investigation in the Jefferson Plaza shopping center parking lot, located at 518 Route 112 around 4:04 p.m., when they were involved in a minor crash with a stolen vehicle.

The driver, Andrew Schneider, 18, was arrested and charged with third degree criminal possession of stolen property.

The two male detectives were treated and released from St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson. Schneider was uninjured. The investigation is continuing, police said.
