4 Charged With Child Endangerment After Selling Vapes To Customers Under 21 In Port Jefferson Station: Police

The shops were located along the Route 112 corridor, Suffolk police say.

PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY — Four people were charged with child endangerment in connection with selling flavored vape products to people under the age of 21 during compliance checks — undertaken in response to community complaints — at businesses in Port Jefferson Station on Sunday, Suffolk police said.

Officers from the 6th Precinct's Investigative Unit checked compliance related to the sale of tobacco products at stores in Port Jefferson Station, Coram, and Mt. Sinai, and the following people were charged with second-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, a misdemeanor:

• A 28-year-old from Brooklyn who is an employee of Elite Tobacco Shop on Route 112.
• A 25-year-old from Farmingville who is an employee of Speedy Mart on Route 112.
• A 41-year-old from Port Jefferson Station who is an employee of Rare Clouds Smoke Shop on Route 112.
• A 29-year-old from Mt. Sinai who is an employee of Port Smoke and Vape Shop on Old
Town Road.

All four people were issued Field Appearance Tickets and are scheduled to appear in First District
Court in Central Islip on a later date.
