PORT JEFFERSON, NY — The Bridgeport and Port Jefferson ferries are warning against a ticket scam involving fraudulent webpages, according to a post on the company's website.
Company officials said that they learned that a fraudulent website claims to be selling tickets for the ferries, and have contacted law enforcement to prevent our customers from being scammed.
The company noted that the only authorized tickets for its ferry service are sold directly through its website.
The company urged clients to be cautious of third-party websites or social media advertisements offering discounted ferry tickets.
It directed questions about where to purchase legitimate tickets for our ferry service, please call us at 1-888-44-FERRY.
Anyone who thinks that they have been scammed should contact their bank or credit card company immediately to dispute a charge, and file a report with their local law enforcement agency.
Complaints can also be filed with the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, and internet fraud complaints can be filed with the Federal Bureau of Investigation at ic3.gov.
