For years the stood alone with no other parts store less than a mere stone's throw away. Last week that all changed with the opening of the Auto Zone across the highway. So now whether you're heading east or west on Nesconset Highway in Port Jefferson Station, you'll be lucky enough to find a giant auto part store to stop in at and bedazzle yourself with the endless supplies of headlights, spark plugs, floor mats and the inevitable Ed Hardy steering wheel covers and other car accessories.

Earlier this year before it opened, the Auto Zone had to make a to a more muted color because the local civic association though the original color was too bright.
