Find Even More Grammy Nominated Music at the Library

While the popular acts who have crossover appeal tend to get the most attention, the Grammys are about honoring all genres of music. Categories even include the liner notes. Yes, there is an award for that- "Best Album Notes."

Broadway gets its due with "Best Musical Theatre Album." The nominees are:

Anything Goes

This revival features the wonderful songs of Cole Porter. Add in Sutton Foster who has amazing stage presence and a voice that can hit the back rafters you have a winner. Joel Grey also stars and has a great duet with Foster. A good old classic Broadway show!

The Book of Mormon

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, writers and creators of South Park have teamed up once again to create a musical incorporating their irreverent sensibility. The musical focuses on two Mormon missionaries who are sent to Uganda to convert a group of villagers. Given its creators expect to hear profanity as well as commentary that some may find offensive. The show, however has received considerable acclaim. The original cast recording even made the Billboard Top 10.

How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying

J. Pierrepont Finch starts off as a humble window washer and with the help of an inspirational book, whose title gives the show its name makes his way up the corporate ladder. John Laroquette won a Tony for his performance as J.B. Biggley. You can hear him and Daniel Radcliffe on the new Broadway cast album.

Movie and television soundtracks will also be honored. The nominees include:

Country music is a major category

• Cross over artists like Taylor Swift and Blake Shelton have received nominations for both individual songs as well as their albums.
• Taylor Swift - “Best Country Solo Performance” and “Best Country Song” for “Mean” and Best Country Album for Speak Now
• Blake Shelton - “ Best Country Solo Performance” for Honey Bee, and “Best Country Album” for Red River Blue
