CORAM, NY — Four boy scouts from Troop 64 were honored last week for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest honor in scouting, at a historic meeting held at the Davis Town Meeting House, Brookhaven's first town hall, in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.

The meeting, a commemoration of the days when the town regularly conducted official Town Board business at the Davis Town Meeting House, featured board members dressed in historically-inspired attire.

Troop 64 served as the color guard and led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Supervisor Daniel Panico and
Councilwoman Jane Bonner commended them.

Panico noted that on a day when the town board gathered "in the very place where Brookhaven's earliest leaders met to shape our town, it was especially fitting to recognize four young men who have chosen to serve others through leadership, hard work, and selflessness."

“Their dedication reflects the very values that have strengthened Brookhaven for generations," he said. "Congratulations on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and thank you for your service to our community.”

Bonner said that the ceremony highlights not just the accomplishments of these four outstanding scouts, "but the spirit of service that defines our town."
