Suffolk Man Made Multiple Bogus 911 Calls Over Two Years: Cops
One of his calls reported a woman's assault and threatened officers, prompting a response to a Lake Ronkonkoma home, police said.
LAKE RONKONKOMA, NY — A Coram man who made multiple false 911 calls over two years, one time prompting officers to be dispatched to a Lake Ronkonkoma home a report about a woman's assault, found himself on the wrong side of the law on Monday, Suffolk police said.
Andrew Welcom called 911 on Aug. 18 reporting a woman had been assaulted and that any
law enforcement officer who tried to enter a Lake Ronkonkoma home to help her would be shot, police said, adding, that when officers responded, "no one in the home was in danger and there were no problems at the house."
This prompted 4th Precinct Crime Section Officer Danielle Congedo to investigate similar incidents and she found four more 911 calls dating back to November 2020 that could be traced to Welcom, police said.

The calls all reported a suspicious person or crime and all were determined to be unfounded, police said, adding that during at least one of the calls, Welcom identified himself as a New York City police officer.
