Kids Play With Trash at School Waste Audit

PTA organizes an after school activity to teach kids about what they throw away.

Some children from Edna Louise Spears Elementary School took part in a waste audit organized by the Port Jefferson PTA's Green Team. The kids separated the trash into four piles of different recyclable and non-recyclable material to learn about the items that they throw away. The piles were measured and will be compared to another waste audit to take place after a "No Waste Week" challenge. The idea is to see if the kids can learn to reduce the amount of trash they throw away. We documented the initial waste audit on in photos.
