LI Man Kills Brother As Cops Arrive At Home: Police
A 17-year-old is dead and his brother is charged with murder. The shooting occurred as officers were arriving on scene from a 911 call.
CORAM, NY — A 27-year-old man shot and killed his 17-year-old brother in Coram Tuesday evening, police said. Sixth Precinct officers responded to a 911 report of a man with a handgun threatening family members outside of 71 Judith Dr. at about 5:35 p.m.
As officers were arriving on scene, Dimitri Robert, 27, entered a parked car outside the house where his brother, Devontay, 17, was sitting in the front passenger seat, police said. Dimitri shot and killed Devontay and was immediately taken into custody by officers, police said.
Devontay Robert was pronounced dead on the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

Dimitri Robert, who has no fixed address but was staying at 71 Judith Dr., was taken to Suffolk County Police Headquarters in Yaphank and was charged with second-degree murder. He was held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Wednesday.
"The Longwood School community is saddened to learn about the tragic passing of one of our 2019 graduates, Devontay Robert," the Longwood Central School District posted on its Facebook. page. "Grief counselors are available for those who need assistance during this difficult time."

Dimitri Robert was arrested in January on a misdemeanor charge of menacing with a handgun. He was released on $750 bail and was due back in court in that case on Oct. 15.
On Sept. 1, police believe 18-year-old Jaifield Gordon was shot on Judith Drive, about 350 feet from Tuesday's shooting, before crashing a BMW into a parked car and fence nearby. No arrests have been made in that case.
