Man Wearing Fedora Robs Long Island Bank

BREAKING: Police say he handed a teller a note demanding cash.

Police are searching for a man who robbed a Coram bank Friday afternoon.

According to police, the man entered the Astoria Federal Savings bank located at 269 Middle Country Road at about 2:15 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding cash. The teller complied and the man fled on foot westbound.

The robber was described white, unshaven, in his mid-30s, about 5-foot-8 with broad shoulders. He was wearing a tan fedora with a brown band on it, a green bandana, sunglasses, a tan T-shirt and blue jeans.

The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
