1. 4 Taken To Area Hospitals In 2 Separate Crashes Within Hour In Brookhaven Town: Police (patch.com) — Port Jefferson drivers may have noticed emergency activity Tuesday after a two-car crash on Route 25A sent both motorists to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The collision was one of two separate accidents in Brookhaven Town within about an hour, with another crash in Shirley also resulting in hospitalizations. Police are continuing to investigate both incidents.
   

2. Port Jefferson Ferry Alerts Passengers To Ticket Scam Involving Fraudulent Website (patch.com) — Residents using the Port Jefferson–Bridgeport ferry are being warned about a fraudulent website pretending to sell tickets, and officials say only tickets bought through the company's official site are valid. Port Jefferson riders are urged to avoid third-party offers, double-check URLs, and contact their bank and law enforcement immediately if they suspect they've been scammed.
   

3. NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation Announces Annual Temporary Closure of Two LI Shellfishing Areas (longisland.com) — Shellfish harvesting in northern Port Jefferson Harbor will be temporarily closed from Sept. 3 through Sept. 9 to protect public health during heavy Labor Day boating. Local boaters are reminded that Port Jefferson Harbor is a no-discharge zone and can use the town's free pump-out boat and dockside station to help keep waters clean until harvesting resumes around Sept. 10.
   

4. Man, 83, Hospitalized With Serious Injury After Watercraft Collision On Long Island Sound: Authorities (patch.com) — An 83-year-old man was seriously injured in a Saturday night boat collision about two miles off Port Jefferson in Long Island Sound, but police say his injuries are not life-threatening. Port Jefferson EMS and Fire Department crews, along with neighboring departments, responded to secure the scene and transport the victim as police completed their investigation.
   

5. After losing Amityville and Port Jefferson varsity football, Suffolk's Division IV scrambles to fill out schedules (newsday.com) — Port Jefferson High School's withdrawal from varsity football, along with Amityville's, has upended Suffolk Division IV schedules just days before kickoff. Several schools are scrambling to line up non-league replacement games, while Port Jefferson's previously scheduled opponents will receive forfeit wins unless new matchups are arranged.
