Port Jefferson And Bridgeport Ferries Evacuated After Bomb Threat

Two docked ferries were evacuated and investigated after a bomb threat on Tuesday afternoon, the U.S. Coast Guard says.

PORT JEFFERSON, NY — The Port Jefferson and Bridgeport, Connecticut ferries were evacuated Tuesday afternoon after receiving a possible bomb threat, the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed with Patch.

Around 1 p.m., Bridgeport police received a report of a possible bomb on the ferries, the Coast Guard said.

Both ferries that were docked in New York and Connecticut were evacuated out of caution. No threat was found after both boats were swept.

Around 2 p.m., the U.S. Coast Guard responded to Port Jefferson, NBC News said.

The ferries resumed their normal schedules around 4:15 p.m., the Coast Guard said.

The threat is currently under investigation.
