7-Eleven Offers Free Slurpees Thursday

7-Eleven's annual free slurpee giveaway just got bigger.

For 87th year, the franchise will offer free slurpees to customers between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday, while supplies last. 

For the past decade, recipients had received a 7.11 ounce slurpee for the occasion, but this year, the freebie has been upped to 12 ounces.

 The reason? Parents want less of a mess, according to USA Today.

"Moms asked us for cups with lids," says Laura Gordon, vice president of marketing and brand innovation for 7-Eleven. 

Unlike the 7.11-ounce cups, the conventional, 12-ounce Slurpees come with lids.  

"That means less mess in the car," she added.

Nearby to Port Washington, there is a 7-Eleven location at 3 Railroad Ave., Roslyn.
