PORT WASHINGTON, NY — After spending the first five years of his life surviving outdoors on his own, Tyger is looking for a place to call home.
The creamsicle-colored cat was found in a veterinarian's yard and is now staying at Bianca's Furry Friends at North Shore Animal League America's Port Washington campus, where he is awaiting adoption.
Shelter staff said Tyger can be cautious in new situations after "surviving on his own for so long," and it has taken him time to learn to trust people again.
Treats are a good way to bring out his personality and showcase who he is, staff said.
Tyger would do best with a family willing to give him time to adjust, along with patience, gentle encouragement, and a safe, comfortable environment.
More information on how to adopt Tyger can be found on his adoption profile.
