Annual Manhasset Bay Kayak Run Fundraiser Event Information

The 2019 Manhasset Bay Kayak Run, a fundraiser for the Community Chest of Port Washington, goes down this month. Here's how to participate.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY—The annual Manhasset Bay Kayak Run is scheduled for Saturday, July 20 at 10 a.m., the Town of North Hempstead announced.

The event will be hosted by Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Community Chest of Port Washington. It will serve as a fundraiser for the Community Chest of Port Washington, which helps those in need in its community.

Participants will launch from the North Hempstead Town Dock in Port Washington at the sound of cannon fire, then they will proceed for a leisurely paddle around the bay. Kayaks, paddle boards and canoes are the allowed vessels for the run.

Kayak rentals are available to those who don't own their own kayak for discounted rates at Atlantic Outfitters, 405 Main St., and Koastal Paddle, 158 Manorhaven Boulevard.

A raffle drawing will be held at the finish line, Town Dock. A brand new kayak serves as the top raffle prize.

The entry fee for adults over 20 years old is $25; $45 if paid on July 20. Young adults and children pay $10, $25 if paid on July 20. Visit www.portchest.org to register and pay online. Paper registration forms are available at the Town Dock, Atlantic Outfitters, or online at www.portchest.org/calendar. Entry forms and payment can be dropped off at the Community Chest (382 Main St.) or Atlantic Outfitters.

A storm date for the event is scheduled for Sunday, July 21 at 10 a.m. For more information on the event, you can call the Town of North Hempstead at 311, or the Community Chest at 767-2121.
