Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel Not Seeking Re-Election

New York State Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel announced Thursday that she will not seek re-election.
Schimel released the following statement: “The Assembly is the best job I have ever had. I am leaving in love with a great institution— ‘The People’s House’. It has been a privilege to serve my wonderful, enlightened, and engaged Assembly District. I look forward to the next chapter in my life.”
Schimel has served eight years in the Assembly representing the 16th Assembly District, which consists of the following communities:
Before that, she was elected Town Clerk of North Hempstead for seven years.
Her term will end Dec. 31, 2016.
