Calling All Artists For New Mural in Fauve Style
The fifth Port Washington mural will be completed in the spring and located on a wall of Anthony's World of Floors on Manorhaven Blvd.

The commissioned artist will be selected based on submissions of their existing paintings in the fauve impressionism style. The deadline for submissions is February 18.
Fauvism is a style of painting with vivid expressionistic and non-naturalistic use of color that flourished in Paris early in the 20th century. Although the fauve movement was short-lived, many expressionistic artists have been influenced its style.
Manorhaven Village Deputy Mayor Priscilla von Roeschlaub initiated the project’s concept and arranged with Anthony’s World of Floors to use the wall on which the mural will be painted. Residents Forward is partnering on the project based on their extensive experience with the four existing Port murals. “Fauvism is such an expressive and beautifully artistic style and the subject of Morgan’s Dock and Manhasset Bay is perfect for Port’s newest mural” Manorhaven Deputy Mayor Priscilla von Roeschlaub said. “I am really looking forward to working with Residents Forward throughout the project and unveiling the completed mural!”

The subject for the mural will be Morgan’s Dock, which opened to the public in 2019 at the end of Orchard Beach Road. This lovely park offers sweeping views of Manhasset Bay and shorelines, native plantings and a beautiful gazebo.
A selection committee will evaluate all submissions emailed to info@pwresidents.org with the subject “Manorhaven Mural Consideration.” Questions regarding this project maybe be sent to the same email address.
