DeRiggi-Whitton Sponsors Mammography Van

Uninsured women 40+ receive free mammography exams; those with insurance just pay their normal co-pay.

On Wednesday, October 10, the Nassau County University Medical Center will be in the Port Washington Public Library to provide mammographies for women 40 year of age or older. Sponsored by by Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, the breast cancer screenings are free of charge to uninsured women. Those with insurance need to make a co-payment.

Those with doctor's prescriptions for mammograms need to bring the prescriptions, along with copies of previous films, if applicable, the day of the mammogram.

The mammograms will be done between 8:45 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Appointments are necessary and can be scheduled by calling Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton's office at 516-571-6211.
