I had an experience at Port Beer and Soda that I would like to share with the community. I bought 5 Snapples (all different flavors) from the refrigerated case as you walk directly into the store. I got home and served it to my guests as well as myself. It tasted funny and I didn't feel too well. I noticed on my bottle, it had a promotion that ended many years ago. I called Snapple and read them the codes off each bottle. They informed me that these bottles of Snapple were 4 years old. They went on to inform me that they have a shelf life of 12 months. I immediately called Port Beer and Soda and told them about this. Their solution? To come back and they will give me 5 dollars!!! I thought they were joking. After trying to contact the owner for a few days by phone to no avail, I went into the store with my Snapple bottle to show the owner. As I walked in, I noticed that despite me informing them of the expired Snapple, they were still selling it. I wanted to see if the owner could make a more reasonable offer for having me and my guests consume expired beverages. HERE'S WHERE IT GETS CRAZY. Once I showed him the expiration date, he broke the bottle and threw it into the trash. I wanted it back, but he refused to give it to me. I let him know that I would be telling anyone and everyone I know about him selling expired merchandise. I let Snapple know about this and how he continues to sell old beverages. I wanted the bottle so that I can send it to Snapple for evidence. Since it now was broken, I called the police. That REALLY enraged him and he grabbed my phone out of my hands and broke it. I kid you not! The police came and he paid me $150 "for the expired Snapple". He told the police he didn't break my phone, but here is some food for thought--why would an innocent person pay $150 for 5 expired Snapple bottles? Think about it. His choice was to be arrested or pay the money for a new phone. The owner is INSANE!!!
