NORTH SHORE ELKS LODGE #1458 ANNOUNCE 39TH ANNUAL ELKS "HOOP SHOOT" "® COMPETITION AT SCHREIBER HIGH SCHOOL ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 4TH
Port Washington, NY, November 28, 2010 – Local competition for the 39th Annual Elks "Hoop Shoot"®, the national free throw shooting contest for youngsters ages 8 through 13, will be held at Paul D. Schreiber High School Gym on Campus Drive, Port Washington on Saturday, December 4th at 9 a.m.
Over three million youngsters from throughout the country entered last year's competition for boys and girls in age categories 8-9; 10-11; and 12-13. Each contestant has 25 shots at the hoop. The boy and girl in each age group with the best scores advance through four tiers of competition to qualify for the national finals. Local winners will compete against other contestants in the district event at New Hyde Park Memorial High School on Saturday, January 15, 2011. Names of the national winners will be inscribed on the Elks National "Hoop Shoot" plaque, on permanent display in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.

In order to participate in the event a parent or guardian must bring the child's birth certificate or passport to the registration desk at the beginning of the event so that your child is registered and competes in the appropriate age group.
The child must be eight years of age and no older than thirteen as of April 1, 2011 in order to compete in the 2011 Elks Hoop Shoot. If you have any questions please call Brian Calenda, Elks Hoop Shoot coordinator at 944-9416.
