The American Ballet Russe (a not for profit organization registered in the state of New York) is a Long Island based classical ballet company which was founded in1991. It is composed of outstanding dancers from the world’s best ballet companies. It is dedicated to educating the public to appreciate the traditional aesthetic value of ballet. Our mission is to keep classical ballet alive on Long Island where it is threatened by the popularity of women’s sports.
The American Ballet Russe performs the greatest ballets of one of the most important ballet companies in history, Serge Diaghilev’s Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. That company was known for its legendary dancing, lavish sets and costumes, all in a glamorous atmosphere. The American Ballet Russe’s jewel box productions combine exoticism and theatricality with vibrant dancing.
