Forbes Ranks Long Island’s Top Colleges

Forbes just announced its rankings, which favor a return on investment.

Not a single Long Island school made the top 200 in Forbes' 2016 college rankings, which put an emphasis on return on investment.

New York’s top college on the list was the United States Military Academy, which was ranked No. 14 in the nation. You’d have to go all the way to No. 227 for the first Long Island school, where the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point checks in.

Here are the Long Island schools that made the list, which included 660 schools nationwide, with their national ranking in parentheses:

  • Adelphi University (381)
  • Hofstra University (399)
  • St. Joseph’s College (440)
  • Saint John’s University- graduate center in Oakdale (460)

Forbes used data from the Department of Education, along with payscale.com and the America's Leaders List to compile the rankings on the top 660 schools. They rated each school on post-graduate success, student debt, student satisfaction, graduation rate and academic success.
