Rain or Shine, Memorial Day Parade is on in Port Washington
Parade starts Monday at 10 a.m.
Rain or shine, the Memorial Day Parade is on.
"We fought in it, we march in it," said VFW Post 1819 Commander John Chalker.
Nothing says Memorial Day like a parade, and Port Washington knows how to kick off a parade in style.

Monday’s Memorial Day parade kicks off at 10 a.m. The parade route extends from Campus Drive, down Main Street to the Sousa Bandshell.
This year’s Grand Marshals are James Kenny from American Legion Post 509 and Leonard Wurzel from Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1819.

Chalker invites the public to bring, or tell a veteran to arrive at Campus Drive at 9:30 a.m. to march, or be driven, in the parade. Everyone is invited to attend a service at the Sousa Band Shell following the parade.
Community and youth organizations, including the Parent Resource Center and the will also march in the parade.
According to the Port Washington Police, the following roads will be closed at 9:30 a.m. and reopening at approximately 11 a.m.
- Port Washington Boulevard from Willowdale Avenue to Beacon Hill Road
- Main Street from Port Washington Boulevard to Prospect Avenue
- Â Shore Road from Main Street to Harbor Road
