Hands of Change Presents First Sonya Davis-Knottingham Scholarship

Award goes to Aja Jones.

The Hands of Change Civic Association announced the first recipient of the Sonya Davis-Knottingham scholarship on Tuesday at the Littig House Community Center, and provided this description to Port Washington Patch.

Sonya Davis-Nottingham, 1963-2011, was a life-long resident of Port Washington. She was a founding member of the Hands of Change Civic Association, and a friend to us all.  Sonya lost her battle with cancer in 2011. Her dedication to her family, friends, and community are strongly missed. We dedicate this scholarship to her memory.

We at the Hands of Change Civic Association are proud to award Miss Aja Jones, the first recipient of the Sonya Davis-Nottingham scholarship. Aja started her college career at The Art Institute of New York City in August 2012, and is expected to graduate in August of 2014. Aja is majoring in fashion merchandising and marketing. Everyone who knows Aja can see that she has a keen eye for fashion and a natural grace in which we are sure she will make an added contribution to the fashion world.
