PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Start peddling, mountain bikers — a new, 5-mile trail opened this week in Port Washington. Town officials joined mountain biking advocates Wednesday to unveil the new trail at Hempstead Harbor Woods on West Shore Road.

The biking trail, located between the Aerodome and the golf course, was designed and built by the nonprofit group Concerned Long Island Mountain Bicyclists, or CLIMB. The organization will also continue to maintain the trail.

Dina De Giorgio, the North Hempstead councilwoman who represents the 6th District comprising Port Washington, has said the new trails come at no cost to the town.
