Students placed items representing their experiences and interests in 2023 into a time capsule that will stay closed for 50 years.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — Students of John J. Daly Elementary School on Friday sealed items in a time capsule that will not be opened until 50 years from now, the Port Washington School District announced.

The time capsule was inserted in the wall of the new wing of their school. The capsule is filled with items that represent the students' experiences and interests in 2023. It will stay there until the 2070s.

Students from each grade level contributed drawings, letters, photographs, and other mementos that capture the spirit of Daly Elementary School to the time capsule.
