"Kyle Strong" Fundraiser a Huge Success
Port Washington came out en force to support a fundraiser for Kyle Faticone, grandson of lifelong residents, Barbara and Tom Faticone.
Just before last Thanksgiving, 21-year-old Kyle suffered a brain aneurysm. After waking from a six-week coma, Kyle had to learn to walk, speak, read and even swallow again. Five months later, his recovery progress has been so impressive that the family had T-shirts and felt heart-shaped pins made that read, “Kyle Strong” as a testament to his will and strength. While this rallying cry has kept family and friends strong as well, medical costs beyond what insurance covers are high.
So, on April 10, about 240 people packed the Manhasset Bay Sportsmen’s Club, which hosted a fundraiser for Kyle. Members and other volunteers cooked and baked, while others gathered raffle and auction items. “It is very difficult to express the joy we experienced that night,” Kyle’s grandmother Barbara Faticone said. “We are so grateful to the Manhasset Bay Sportsmen’s Club and everyone who helped cook and organize the event.”
Kyle, who was born and raised in Lindenhurst, has worked for the Town of Babylon since graduating high school. “We are overwhelmed with the prayers, words of care and donations, even from people we don’t know. God bless you all!” Kyle’s parents Keith and Diane Faticone added.
