Port Washington Allison White submitted a Letter to the Editor regarding Tuesday's school board elections.

To the Editor:
This Tuesday, May 16th , I will be voting Yes for the Port Washington Schools Budget and proudly casting my vote for Rachel Gilliar for the School Board. Unlike anyone currently serving on our school board, Rachel Gilliar has four young children who will be attending Port Washington Schools for years to come. Rachel is deeply committed to ensuring all Port Students receive a well rounded education and that the community as a whole benefits from our schools.

Rachel will bring an impeccable work ethic to the Board. The old adage “if you want something done, find a busy person” could have been coined to describe her. Being a mother of four has made Rachel a keen listener. Her years as a non-profit Board member has made her someone who welcomes constructive feedback and who knows how to work collaboratively to achieve goals. Rachel’s training as an attorney has provided her with the skill to dissect complex problems and find the best solutions. These attributes that will serve her well as a member of the Port Washington Board of Education.
Rachel has already demonstrated her commitment to education excellence by bringing a national recognized Science, Technology, Engineering and Math summer camp to Port Washington. Camp Invention takes place for one week every August and introduces children of all backgrounds and ability levels to the basic skills they will need to thrive in the 21st Century.
