Levinson Honored with Women's Roll of Honor Award from the Town of North Hempstead

Dr. Kathy Levinson Received 2017 May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor Award

Dr. Kathy Levinson, a real estate salesperson affiliated with the Port Washington regional office of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage on Long Island and Queens, N.Y., was recently honored as one of 16 recipients of the 2017 May W. Newburger Women’s Roll of Honor Award. She received the award from the town of North Hempstead at the 24th annual event held on March 29.

“This award is a wonderful achievement for Kathy,” said Gracene Gardella, branch office manager of the Port Washington office. “The Women’s Roll of Honor Award honors outstanding women who have made significant contributions to the North Hempstead community and accomplished significant achievements through public or private efforts.”

Community service has been in Levinson’s heart since childhood. Beginning as a teen volunteer at Camp Anchor, the special needs camp in Lido Beach, N.Y., to being an escort to the Swedish Paralympic Team, she has committed herself to a life filled with volunteerism.

During her career as a psychologist, Levinson served the Brain Injury Association of Florida. After the Columbine shootings, she was invited to meet and speak with the students who witnessed the tragedy. She served on the board of Universal Aid for Children, Inc., a non-profit organization in service to children in the United States and third-world countries by bringing medical supplies and clothing to orphanages.

For the last 17 years, Levinson has devoted herself to several community organizations such as the Port Counseling Center, Inc, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center with the primary focus on substance abuse based in Port Washington. She is 1st vice president of the executive board for the Port Washington Senior Citizens Center and teaches martial arts on a weekly basis at the center. Levinson also serves on the executive board of the Port Washington Chamber of Commerce and is the acting volunteer coordinator for HarborFest, the largest town event held annually in June in Port Washington.

Currently, Levinson is the lieutenant governor of the New York District of Kiwanis International, Long Island North Division, and oversees programs such as K-Kids, Builder’s Club, Key Club, Circle-K & the Aktion Club (Adults with Disabilities). Her division serves the Ronald McDonald House, The Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youths and Adults, The Salvation Army, and prepares dinners for homeless people, maintains food pantries, and provides programs on anti-bullying, as well as drug and alcohol awareness.
