The Lowest-Paying Jobs in New York State

Manicurists, fast food cooks, cashiers and home health aides are among the lowest-paid employees in the state, a new study says.

All job wages are not created equal. While many people say they can’t afford to live in New York, some have it worse than others, a new analysis shows.

Career site Zippa looked at Bureau of Labor Statistics data for all 769 job classifications in New York to find out which 100 jobs are the lowest-paying in the state.

According to the findings, the lowest paid workers in New York are manicurists and pedicurists. These workers get an average annual salary of $20,310, the study says. Cooks and fast food workers were ranked the second-lowest paid employees with an average salary of $20,830. About 79 jobs on the list make less than $30,000 a year and all the 100 lowest-paying jobs make an average annual salary of less than $31,500.
