Lutherans Celebrate 100 Years Serving Port
100th Anniversary Service scheduled for All Saints Day, Sunday, November 1st

All are invited to the 100th Anniversary Festival Eucharist on All Saints’ Day, Sunday, November 1st. The Lutheran Mass begins at 10am. The Reverend Dr. Robert Alan Rimbo, Bishop of the Metropolitan NY Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will deliver the sermon. Special celebratory music will be provided by a brass ensemble and Choir under the direction of Music Director, Federico Teti. Special guests include the Bishop’s wife, Lois, and Barbara von Schlichten Wittkopf of Baton Rouge, LA , daughter of the congregation’s former pastor, the Reverend Mr. Henry J. von Schlichten, who served in 1943-1974 during the era of the congregation’s greatest growth. A reception will be held following the service in the von Schlichten Memorial Hall.
The service is the culminating event in a year of special activities organized by the 100th Anniversary Committee. Chaired by Doris Michelson Whittemore, a congregant since childhood, the committee includes Yvonne Knapp Andreadis, Erica Bundschuh Dzwlewicz, Bill Gordon, Pia Haselbach, Leslie Kinney, Ron Knight, Sue Gaita Marra, Martha Schweitzer, Karen Spitz, Rachel Sunday, Linda & Jerry Urick, Jean Vogeley and Reed P. Whittemore, Esq.
