Police: Man Robs Roslyn Heights Gas Station
The robber pretended to have a gun in his pocket, but no weapons were recovered from the arrest, police said.

A New Hyde Park man was arrested after police said he robbed a Roslyn Heights gas station while pretending to be armed with a weapon on Tuesday afternoon.
According to authorities, Matthew Williams, 23, entered Citgo Gas Station, located a 1 Powerhouse Road, and demanded money from a 49-year-old while keeping his right hand inside his pocket as if he had a firearm at 2:23 p.m.
The victim handed the robber an undisclosed amount of cash. Williams then fled on foot across Powerhouse Road to Roslyn Road, police said.

Authorities later located a man fitting the robber’s description walking in the rear of 261 Parkside Drive. After an investigation, Williams was arrested and charged with first degree robbery and third degree robbery.
No weapons were recovered from the arrest and no one was injured from the robbery.

Williams will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.
