Motorcyclist Killed in Roslyn Heights Crash

A Mineola man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Roslyn Heights, police say.

According to authorities, Joao P. Cunha, 37, was driving a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Roslyn Road when he struck a vehicle turning into a parking lot south of the Long Island Expressway at 2:59 p.m.

Cunha was transported to North Shore University Hospital where hospital staff pronounced him dead at 5:32 p.m., police say.

Both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety checks. No other injuries were reported.
