N. Hempstead Offering Another Free Microchip Clinic for Pets

The Town of North Hempstead is making is super easy to get your pet microchipped for free with another “Pet Microchip Clinic” in June.

The Town held its first ever microchip clinic in November, a second clinic in February and a third clinic in April.

A microchip as small as a grain of rice will be easily implanted under the skin of the pet. If the cat or dog ever goes missing, the microchip will help reunite them with their owners.

The event will be held at the Town’s Animal Shelter, located at 75 Marino Ave. in Port Washington, on Saturday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“Having dogs and cats microchipped is a great benefit for pet owners,” Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth said. “This free service will give them the peace of mind that if their pet is ever lost, they will still be able to identify them.”

Pre-registration is required and microchips are limited. Call 311 or 516-869-6311 to reserve your spot.

Anyone who participates in the clinic will leave with information from PetLink, a tag and a microchip identification card with the chip number.

All dog owners must bring a valid license at the time of registration and cat owners must show proof of current rabies vaccination certificate (tags will not be accepted as proof.)

The microchips will be inserted by a licensed veterinarian and/or licensed veterinary technician.
