N. Hempstead Offering Another Free Pet Microchip Clinic

The Town of North Hempstead is making is super easy to get your pet microchipped for free with another “Pet Microchip Clinic” in October.

A microchip as small as a grain of rice will be easily implanted under the skin of the pet. If the cat or dog ever goes missing, the microchip will help reunite them with their owners.

The event will be held at the Town’s Animal Shelter, located at 75 Marino Ave. in Port Washington, on Saturday, Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“It’s wonderful that our Town Animal shelter is able to once again offer residents the chance to get their dogs and cats microchipped,” Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth said. “This free service will give them the peace of mind that if their pet is ever lost, they will still be able to find them.”

Pre-registration is required and microchips are limited. Call 311 or 516-869-6311 to reserve your spot.

Anyone who participates in the clinic will leave with information from PetLink, a tag and a microchip identification card with the chip number.

All dog owners must bring a valid license at the time of registration and cat owners must show proof of current rabies vaccination certificate (tags will not be accepted as proof.)

The microchips will be inserted by a licensed veterinarian and/or licensed veterinary technician.
